Where the boat meets you
Liberia is where most guests land, and it is inland, so no boat leaves from it. By road from the airport it is about 30 minutes to Playa Hermosa, 40 minutes to Playas del Coco, 1 hour to Playa Flamingo or Playa Conchal, 1 hour 10 minutes to Tamarindo and 2 hours to Samara. Where do you pick me up near Liberia?
The boat waits about 100 m off the beach nearest your hotel, and a dinghy brings you out to it. Where a boat cannot reach you, we arrange ground transport to it.
What time do trips start?
Boats typically leave at 7:30 a.m., but the start time is flexible. We agree it with you when you book.
How long are the trips?
You can book 4, 6 or 8 hours. A shorter trip suits the inshore water; the full day is for offshore.
Can I fish inshore and offshore?
Yes. Inshore stays near the coast and the rocky points. Offshore runs out to deep water for billfish, dorado and tuna.
Do I need fishing experience?
No. The captain and crew set everything up and show you what to do, so beginners and families are welcome.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes. Costa Rica requires one by law for every angler. It is not part of the charter price. You buy it before the trip, online from INCOPESCA. Feel free to ask, we can provide guidance. Apply for the license
