These are the terms for booking a trip with Papagayo Fishing. They are written to be read. If anything is unclear, text us at (786) 695-0420 before you book.
What We Do
Papagayo Fishing arranges fishing charters and boat tours in the Gulf of Papagayo, Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Your trip runs on a boat owned and crewed by the local captains we work with. We are your one point of contact before, during and after the trip.
A Request Is Not a Booking
When you send a booking request, nothing is held for you yet. We ask the captain whether the boat is free on your date. Your trip is booked only when we confirm it to you in writing. A deposit alone does not hold a date.
Price and Deposit
The price of your trip is the one in your written confirmation. A deposit secures the booking. Your confirmation states the deposit, the balance, and when each is due. We take payment by PayPal invoice.
What the Price Does Not Cover
- Your fishing license. Costa Rica requires one by law for every angler. You buy it before the trip, online from INCOPESCA. Ask us and we will guide you.
- Ground transport, if you need a ride to reach the boat. You pay the driver directly, or through us if you prefer.
- A tip for the crew. It is your choice, and there is no set amount.
The boat comes to your beach as part of the price. We charge no pick-up fee.
If You Cancel
- 3 or more days before the trip: we refund everything you paid.
- Less than 3 days before the trip: the deposit is not refunded. The captain kept the day for you and turned other trips away.
If the Trip Cannot Go
Sometimes the sea is unsafe or a boat breaks down, and that is nobody's fault. We move your trip to another day at no extra charge, or we refund you in full.
The captain decides whether it is safe to go out, and may change the route or end a trip early for safety.
On the Day
- Bring your fishing license and a copy of your passport, or another ID.
- Fishing is fishing. The crew works hard for your fish, and nobody can promise a catch.
Changes to These Terms
The terms that apply to your trip are the ones on this page on the day we confirm your booking. What we do with your details is in our privacy policy.
